how to volunteer

Volunteering at the Winooski Food Shelf is a richly rewarding experience.  Because we have a set schedule, it is easy to designate a specific time and day of the week to volunteer.  Please see "Who We Are" for information on our activities.  Just call 802-655-7371, leave a message, and someone will return your call.  We can also be reached by email at winooskifoodshelf@gmail.com

We are currently reorganizing the Committee that oversees the Winooski Food Shelf operations and are seeking individuals who would like to serve on one of our various sub-committees, which range from fundraising to communications, food services to volunteer management. Committee members are required to serve 6 hours per month in a food-shelf related activity.  Affiliation with the United Methodist Church of Winooski is not required.

I love this place. I haven't had to use a food shelf for a while but when I had to, they were sweet and un-judging. they didn't care that we were there; they cared that I needed their help, and they did. A lot!! Thank you!!

how to donate $$

or food

Donating is easy and welcome at all times not just the holidays. And it's not just food. In January, we focus on dental hygiene, so we're looking for toothbrushes, tooth paste, floss, as well as other toiletries. We  have a continuing, critical shortage of Baby Care Products--diapers, formula, baby food, wipes, and toiletries. Cat and dog food is needed almost every month.  After the holidays and the end of summer/early fall leave us with shortages almost every year. As the need has grown, so has our need for funds and groceries.  You can help out by sending a tax-deductible check made out to the Winooski Food Shelf c/o The United Methodist Church of Winooski, 24 West Allen Street, Winooski, VT 05404.

You can drop off food, toiletries, and paper goods, among other needed groceries at J&J's Corner Store, 12 Mallets Bay Avenue, 9 am to 9 pm, everyday except Sunday or at the Winooski Senior Center, 123 Barlow Street, 8:30-12 Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and Tuesdays from 8:30 - 3 pm.  Or just drop them off during Food Shelf hours.
